Build understanding. Then build your game.¶
Ludus Wiki is the practical guide to using Ludus: prepare your tools, create a project, work in the editor, and understand the systems behind each workflow.
-
Start using Ludus
Prepare the supported desktop environment and launch the editor.
-
Try the editor in your browser
Open the existing workspace, edit project settings and configuration, and download changes.
-
Make your first project
Choose a name and location. Let Ludus prepare and verify the engine setup.
-
Render and change your first scene
Open the Cornell box, then change a material, move a block and adjust lighting. Follow screenshots and visible checkpoints at each step.
-
Find a workflow
Build, run, debug, repair setup, or package a game with explicit steps.
-
Learn the reasoning
Explore engine boundaries, terminology and a focused reference reading path.
-
Explore engine architecture
Follow module ownership, startup, rendering, simulation and runtime boundaries.
-
Look up a C++ API
Browse public declarations, signatures and caller contracts generated from headers.
What to expect¶
Ludus is an actively developed C++23 engine and toolset. The supported native reference environment is Ubuntu 24.04, Linux x64, Clang/LLVM 23. The desktop editor provides project/build/run workflows, audio authoring and an offline configuration workspace. Scene authoring and the S2 document-editing milestone are still planned. See current capabilities.
Find an answer quickly¶
Use Search for a command, error or concept. Every guide has a local table of contents and links to the underlying source or detailed engineering document. Start with troubleshooting when setup or a build fails.
This wiki follows the repository's main branch. When working with an older
checkout or SDK, use the documentation at that revision and its command help.
